Introduction

Sepake Angiama is a writer, educator, curator and the artistic director of iniva (Institute of International Visual Arts) in London, the home of the Stuart Hall Library and iniva’s archive where she leads the artistic research, exhibitions, publishing and critical engagement programmes.

Her interest in education, social practice, and community building has led her to work in a range of settings from schools, museums, and community organisations. Her practice is driven by the belief that unlearning is a powerful tool for reinvigorating social and political imagination. Her work has been inspired by Black women writers, thinkers, artists and educators who believe and act upon the premise that another world is possible.
