Introduction

Hutsama Juntaratana (b. Chanthaburi, Thailand) is an architectural designer and artist based in Bangkok. Her practice spans contemporary art, architecture, and bio-based material research. Working with local waste and organic matter, her work challenges dominant narratives of value and permanence while proposing regenerative alternatives. Currently a practice-based PhD candidate at RMIT University, her research positions bio-based materials as active mediums of care in shaping reciprocal ecological and social relationships. Notable works include Plastic Twins (2021), Salvage System (2024), both archived in the Future Materials Bank, and Collective Incense-Making from Post-Ritual Flowers (2025), developed through the Future Observatory Fellowship at Bangkok Kunsthalle.

Hutsama currently lives and works in Bangkok, Thailand.
