Introduction

Field-0 is a relation-oriented practice initiated by Jingru (Cyan) Cheng and Chen Zhan, working across architecture, anthropology, art and filmmaking. Through spatial research, immersive installations and films grounded in fieldwork, they trial sensorial approaches to planetary interconnectedness, following drifting bodies such as sand, water and migrant workers. Recent exhibitions include participation in the Singapore Biennale: Pure Intention (Singapore, 2025-26); and solo shows How Much Wattage Is One Handbreadth of Water (Storefront for Art and Architecture, New York, 2025), Ripple Ripple Rippling (Architectural Association, London, 2024), and Hydroelectric Spectre (Bangkok Kunsthalle, 2026). Their film work received the Architecture Short Film Award at the Milano Design Film Festival (2024) and the Best Short Film at the Venice Architecture Film Festival (2023). The duo were CCA-Mellon fellows at the Canadian Centre for Architecture. They currently live and work in between London, UK and China.
