Panachai Chaijirarat
Introduction
Panachai Chaijirarat is an Udon Thani-born and based artist whose multidisciplinary work operates at the intersection of local history and materiality. His practice explores and utilizes objects to examine how their manipulation and juxtaposition can synthesize new meanings that exceed their original readings. Chaijirarat’s curiosity is deeply embedded in the complex heritage of his home province, specifically investigating the modern remnants of US military-related installations and their lasting impact on the discourse of local identity.
Through both his individual studio practice and his work as Noir Row Art Space, which he founded in late 2017, Chaijirarat transforms material fragments into conduits for awareness. In doing so, he seeks to reposition local history and explore how historical forces continuously reshape and construct provincial identity within a contemporary context.
