Alphae Reciel Marfa
Introduction
Alphae Reciel Marfa is a curator and cultural worker working across the Philippines and Southeast Asia. Born in Cebu (with family roots in Santa Fe, Bantayan Island) and based between Manila and the Visayas, her practice approaches curating as a relational and restorative act, foregrounding care, ecology, and everyday forms of resilience.
She has held curatorial and managerial roles at ‘Cloudgrey Gallery’, ‘Menarco Vertical Museum’, and ‘98B COLLABoratory’, where she developed exhibitions and public programs examining belonging, memory, and the politics of place. Selected projects include While You Wait (Visayas Art Fair, Cebu, 2023), Dahon-Dahan: An ESC Project (First United Building Community Museum, Manila, 2024), and Even Then, We Smiled (First United Building Community Museum, Manila, 2025).
Marfa has participated in the ‘Gwangju Biennale International Curator Course’ (2025) and ‘CULTIVATE: Patronage’ with in-tangible institute (2025). She is a co-founder of ‘Bb Project Ph’, a Cebu-based feminist collective centering women’s and LGBTQIA+ narratives through food, exhibitions, and community programs.
